A Montessori
Approach
At Oiseau, we cherish the boundless curiosity and eagerness of children. Inspired by Maria Montessori's philosophy, we strive to cultivate this innate wonder through playful engagement. Just as doodling is to art, improvising is to music—a journey of exploration and creativity. In our beginner lessons, we encourage children through games and exploration on the piano, fostering a love for discovery over rigid instruction.

As a mature adult learner in my 60s 👩🦳 who started piano lessons 3 years ago, David is an amazing piano teacher who is very patient and skilled! He uses engaging, innovative teaching techniques that keep lessons fun for me. His unique assignments are creative and catered to my musical interests and beginner level. I always look forward to my next lesson to show him how I've applied his teachings in my practice. I would highly recommend David to anyone young and old looking for a piano teacher! 🎼

David is an AMAZING piano teacher. He is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about piano and teaching. My 7-year-old daughter is enjoying his lessons and can’t wait to see him every week. He is always patient and encouraging, as well as leaving a detail note after every lesson. It is certainly an enjoyable experience to have David as our piano teacher. Performance
At Oiseau, we believe that nurturing musicians not just in their technical prowess but also in their ability to captivate an audience and share their passion for music is of the utmost importance. Every performance is an opportunity for students to spread their wings and soar to new heights!
We currently offer two concerts per year free of charge for all Oiseau Music students and highly encourage our students to participate in festivals and exams throughout the year around the Toronto area.
Production, Mixing and Composition
We're excited to now offer DJing, Music Production, and Composition classes for students interested in creating and performing music in new, modern ways. Using powerful tools like BandLab and Logic Pro, students will learn to craft their own beats, mix tracks, and compose original works—expanding their musical voice beyond traditional instruments.
This is usually offered as an addition to regular lessons, giving students the flexibility to explore music creation alongside their piano studies.
Well-Rounded Musicians
Oiseau is unique in it's approach of integrating both jazz and classical studies into it's curriculum.
Jazz musicians are flexible, knowledgeable in theory, with sharp ears and honed improvisational skills. Classical musicians excel in sight-reading, technique, interpretation-building, and have an incredibly refined technique.
Our advanced students learn to possess all of these skills.
Applied Theory
We consistently apply the fundamentals of theory to repertoire our students are learning.
Interpretation
Our students' learn to convey emotion and expression through musical performance, utilizing dynamics, phrasing, and articulation.
Technique
We develop the physical skills and coordination required to play effectively at a high level.
Improvisation
Our students learn to put theory, technique, and interpretation into practice by coming up with their own music in real time.
