For Alex, music is a powerful form of expression—a way for musicians to convey their feelings, emotions, and experiences both to others and for themselves. In his lessons, Alex emphasizes the importance of listening, as music is an art form meant to be heard. By approaching music through listening first, students deepen their understanding of musical expression, which in turn fosters creativity and sparks curiosity for new ideas. Alex’s goal is to help students express themselves through music while equipping them with the fundamentals and tools needed to do so fully.
Alex's Story
Alex has a diverse educational background, as a graduate of both the University of Toronto and Sheridan College. His studies in Communication Technology, Digital Communication, and Cinema Studies have given him a strong foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of sound, film, and music production. He is also a graduate of the Regional Arts Program at Cawthra Park Secondary School, where he majored in Music. Currently, Alex works as a music producer and DJ, creating music for labels such as the Hard Music Group and the Aura Collection. He also releases music under his artist name, .kie, performing at local venues and events across Toronto. He DJs regularly at venues including The Drake Hotel, Don Don Izakaya, FreePlay, and Bar Dem, and has collaborated with brands such as Arc’teryx. Alex’s multifaceted experience enables him to inspire his students to explore and create freely, while also emphasizing the importance of technique, theory, and consistent practice. He strives to help each student find their unique voice by exploring the wide range of possibilities that music has to offer.
