Collin Makariak
Collin is a composer and pianist based in the greater Toronto area. With over a decade of teaching experience, he brings a breadth of skills and knowledge with him. Collin takes a professional and thoughtful approach to teaching, while making sure lessons remain relaxed and enjoyable. He believes students should have the opportunity to build strong musical skills while also having fun and developing a genuine enjoyment of playing.
Collin's Story
Collin is a graduate of the Royal Conservatory of Music and went on to study piano at Acadia University, earning Bachelor’s degrees in both Music Performance and Composition. His experience spans a wide range of musical styles. As a former member of a Halifax-based rock band, he has worked with classical, jazz, pop, and rock music, giving him a broad perspective on both playing and creating music. Collin’s musical journey began at the age of six, when he started taking piano lessons from his neighbour across the street in Barrie. Over the years, his interest in music grew into a passion for performing and pursuing piano at a high level.
